Consumer Code for Home Builders publishes Annual Report 2025/26
News
The Consumer Code for Home Builders 2025/26 Annual Report is now available to download. The digital report summarises the Code’s key achievements and challenges during the year, as well as looking ahead to future priorities for the 2026/27 financial year.
The report also summarises the outputs from the Independent Dispute Resolution Scheme during the 2025 calendar year, which is run on the Code’s behalf by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR). This is the first year we have seen a drop in the number of disputes raised, which is likely to be due to transferring their Alternative Dispute Resolution coverage to an alternate code of practice.
Shared learning
We continue to invest in sharing learning and guidance to help builders comply with the Code and provide a better experience for home buyers. We also share regular updates for buyers on what to look out for and how to make the process of buying a new build home easier. Summaries of our blogs and learning leaflets are included in the report.
Sanctions
In addition to positive learning, sanctions continue to play a role in ensuring the Code’s effectiveness. In line with our agreed procedures, we have published details of a builder who has been excluded from renewing their warranty cover following a serious breach of the Code.
This year also saw our Board review the outcome of our pilot non-compliance charge which has now been made permanent. This charge is levied against builders who do not implement the decisions made by independent adjudicators following a dispute in the appropriate timeframe set.
